I was tasked with redesigning both the UX and UI designs for the website known as The Internet Classics Archive. With this project, I was asked to design and create layouts for this particular website to further improve its functionality and the user’s experience in both desktop and mobile adaptations. This process required our group to gather research and information on the site, its competitors, and its intended audience, in additional to various sketches and mock-ups in order to find a design that satisfied the main objective and goal of this project.
A skeuomorphic and minimalistic design approach was implemented throughout the site design as it made it easier to navigate and search for books, while also creating the illusion of a digital library. Colors and typefaces were picked to match with the classical aesthetic while also creating a calming and peaceful experience when users search for books. Features such as a search bar, browsing filters, and a save button were added to further improve the user's search process and being able to refer back to specific books. The design and layout of each page were also formatted so that they'd be functional and readable in both desktop and mobile settings.
